Suspensions

In Alberta, your license can be suspended for a number of reasons. 

For example, you could be legally suspended for your driving behavior or, you could also be suspended for medical reasons as well.

It is illegal to drive with a suspended license and if caught doing so, you can face fines, vehicle impound, and additional suspensions.

Here are four categories which you may find yourself fitting into. Each category is scenario specific so please phone in if you need help.

Ignition Interlock Program

The Ignition Interlock Program allows drivers who have a DUI (driving under the influence) conviction to drive with limited conditions. 

If you choose to participate in this program, you will have a device installed in your vehicle to ensure you cannot start the vehicle if it senses alcohol.

Restricted Driver’s License Applications

A Restricted license allows an individual with a suspended license to move from point A to B in a limited zone.

You can apply for a restricted license if you do not have a liquor related offence.

License Reinstatement

Once your License Suspension has ended, you may wish to reinstate your license. 

To do so, certain conditions may apply.
